Bible Marathon '08

Over the long Easter weekend in 2008, starting on the evening of Maundy Thursday, members of the youth group took part in a sponsored bible reading marathon.  From “In the beginning” to “May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with everyone.” The bible reading continued in the church over the next 3 days and reached the end of the book of Revelations in the early evening of Easter Sunday.

The youth group members taking part in the reading were organised into teams with a couple of members reading at any one time. The other members of the team were entertained with a range of activities and crafts. Reading continued through day and night - by the end of Sunday there were lots of tired grumpy youth group members and exhausted leaders.

A big thank you to all the people who came along and helped out and to the dedicated listeners.

The aim of the event was to raise money that will be taken to Utugi (in Kenya) by a group from the church going out there in 2009. In the end we raised over £1200.

The cross smothered with little paper crosses shows just how much love there is in the bible. For each usage of the word “love” one paper cross was pinned on.
